There are no cons except for the missing content in the lost levels and the camera scheme. There is a lot of content and the second game was added. For a Game boy color game, I doubt this could be any better. I know the Game boy color is 8-bit, but it doesn't mean the graphics could be better.
The title screen and the map screen look great, but I think the game play could look just a bit better. I know we want it to look like the original Super Mario, but that's what the whole point is (I'm only talking about the camera scheme, mind you. The GBC could have easily put SMB on the whole screen). Just because the sound isn't exactly like the original Mario doesn't mean it's better than it.

I do like the title screen music and the map sound effect (the beep. Everything else isn't really better, but it still is great. The newly added mode select music sounds really cool. I also like the toy box music. It reminds me of Galaga '88 'Ragtime' (level 14 of Galaga '88). This game never gets old, no matter how old it really is. Besides the original Mario, you have content that can be unlocked.
There are You Vs. Boo races that you unlock for 100,000 points. I've never really done one before, but I think they're really fun. Then there's the unreleased-in-America Super Mario Bros.
2 AKA Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels for 300,000 points. This is just like the original Mario except with a new so-called 'power up'. THE POISON MUSHROOM (and different levels and more levels although they were chopped off in this version)!!!!!!
This mushroom acts just like an enemy, either shrinking you or killing you. I see why it's too hard for Americans. This game is missing some content like worlds A,B,C,D and the wind. It's always a challenge getting 100,000 or 300,000 points in the original Mario. The story is the same in both games, Super Mario Bros. And Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and it's pretty straight out. A princess named Princess Toadstool was captured by the evil koopa named Bowser and Mario must save her by jumping, running, and warping through 8 menacing worlds while fighting off koopas, goombas, buzzy beetles, spinnies, lakitus, and many more enemies and grabbing coins, mushrooms, flowers, and stars.
To make it a little annoying, you also hear 'Sorry Mario, but your princess is in another castle' 7 times. Although you still don't want to eat Poison Mushrooms (just saying so you don't forget). Have a turtle stomping pipe warping brick smashing good time making it to world eight level four and good luck saving the princess (You're going to need it). Since the This game has a lot to offer. Besides the original Mario and the content that can be unlocked, there is a lot to this game. There is a challenge mode that two or more people can play, there are records (high scores) that you can look at and see who is number 1.
There is also an album that shows pictures of achievements that you unlock throughout the game like finding a hidden mushroom block or seeing the fireworks at the end of a level or even something as simple as killing a goomba or koopa. There is a toy box that has a calendar that shows years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.3000 (yes, it shows 2012) and a fortune teller. If you get extremely lucky, you get 5 extra lives, so you'll have 10 lives when starting instead of 5. With the challenge and Vs. Mode, you need to use the link cable. The NES version wasn't nearly good as this The original Super Mario Bros.
Mario Bros Deluxe Game
I would give a 6.5 for difficulty, and Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels would get an 8 for difficulty, but considering the fact that you have to unlock Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (and the You vs. Boo races) and there is new added content like vs. Mode, challenge mode and a photo album that you have to unlock the pictures for, I would give this a ten in difficulty. I would give Super Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers: The Lost levels an 8.5 out of 10 already, but with all the newly added content, this has to have a 10 out of 10. To wrap it up, I'm going to list the pros and cons. Pros: -original Mario with new content -The lost levels -great sound and graphics -map screen -two player challenge mode -fun activities outside game -fortune telling lets you seek advice -calender shows every year, month and day from year 1 to 3,000 Cons: -bad camera movement -missing content in The Lost Levels Graphics 9 Sound 10 Addictive 10 Depth 10 Difficulty 10.
Be any type of Mario in You VS Boo mode On the part where you choose the level you want in You VS Boo, press select. It will change you so that you can be any kind you want. Normal, Super, or Fire Mario. Earn Mario and Bowser medals Complete the original game to earn the Mario medal. Then go back to the same file and play the 2nd quest.
Beat that to earn the Bowser medal. Fireworks at end of level Finish the level with a time of 1 3 or 6 at the end, and you will get the amount of fireworks that it ended in. You get 500 points per firework.
Get 5 more lifes at the start of a new file Go into the fortune telling part. Keep randomly picking a card, until you get an Extremely Lucky card. Now start a new file. You will have 10 lifes instead of 5. NOTE:This will only work on a new file. It won't do anything on a file with progress. Unlock -SMB for Super Players- In a normal game once you get 300,000 points it will be unlocked.
These are the lost levels that were originally Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan and appeared in Super Mario All Stars elsewhere. Unlock -You Vs. Boo- Race Levels In a normal game once you get 100,000 points they will be unlocked.
